NEWS Opta data integrated in FoxSports VR app for the first time.

Sunday night’s (11th December) Audi MLS Cup final between Seattle Sounders and Toronto FC saw a first for MLS with the game being broadcast on FoxSport’s Virtual Reality App FoxSports VR, integrating detailed Opta data in a virtual reality first.

FoxSport’s VR app, created by virtual reality company LiveLike, was enriched with official MLS data making it the first time that live performance data has been integrated in a virtual reality environment. Complementing Fox’s coverage of the game, real-time statistics were accessible as well as the Opta-powered Audi Index Score.

The app, which launched in September, allows you to watch the game happening on the field whilst being able to walk around a virtual suite, watch highlights and see the game from a variety of angles.

With broadcasters consistently looking for ways to improve their viewing experience, graphics companies such as VizRT and Reality Check Systems integrating Opta’s cutting-edge data-feeds gives broadcasters the opportunity to analyse the game in more detail, allowing fans to get closer to the action than ever before.
