Description

We are looking for someone who combines the creativity to devise exciting new ways to present Opta’s data with the versatility and discipline to be able to deliver software development projects on time and within budget in accordance with agreed priorities.

The role calls for a combination of Project Management and Product Management skills. Opta’s flagship products are Data Feeds and Widgets. Widgets are a means of displaying the data in an interesting manner, which is easy for the customer to integrate with their existing website. We are looking for someone to progress the Widget product range.
 
  • Widgets product development – devising specs for new football widgets and expansion of Opta’s widget product range into other sports and managing the delivery of these products
  • Sales support & on-going account management for widget products 
  • Development of a widget-based Football Match Centre for Euro 2012
  • Establishing and managing a widgets development team including back-end and front-end developers
  • Devise and deliver a widgets CMS that will provide a simple tool for customers to use while reconfiguring/customising /testing the widgets
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
 
  • Good understanding of product development processes and product lifecycles. Experience in a Product Manager or Project Manager role.
  • Good understanding of web technologies – especially those currently used by Opta (eg. XML, Flash, HTML 5, ideally iPhone/Android/Windows apps)
  • Understanding of, and ability to manage, the software development processes
  • Strong interest sports, especially Football
  • Ability to liaise with internal resources and customers during product specification phase, and ability to translate requirements into clearly-defined specifications
  • Results oriented
  • Excellent team player
  • Able to prioritise and to lead and motivate others as well as yourself
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to resolve conflict
